aftercare

tattoo derm should stay in place 24-72 hours. Colored fluid building up is normal. If excessive fluid builds up, the bandage can be removed. If it is adhering well, the bandage can stay in place for 2-4 days.

If redness occurs under the bandage, remove immediately, discontinue use, and contact your tattoo artist. Allergic reactions/ irritation occasionally occurs.

To remove bandage; make sure your hands are clean and peel it back slowly from the edge. Stretch the bandage so it releases from the skin gently, do not rip it off. Taking it off in the shower under running warm water will help with removal.

Discard bandage and immediately wash your tattoo gently, but thoroughly. Use clean hands in circular motions (no washcloth) with warm water and a fragrance-free liquid soap (like Dr. Bronner's baby soap) and rinse with cool water.

Pat dry with a clean towel/paper towel and let air dry for 10 minutes. Continue to keep clean for the next 2-3 days, at least 2 times a day (morning and evening). If you work out or sweat a lot, make sure to wash your tattoo after.

Use an unscented lotion (such as Eucerin, Aveeno, or Cetaphil) as needed for the next 3-5 days. Apply a thin layer of lotion after each wash.

Although it is highly unusual for a tattoo to become infected, it is possible, and is most likely to occur within the first 24 hours. Consult a healthcare professional at the first sign of infection.

Do not soak in water for 2-3 weeks, or while your tattoo is visibly healing. This includes baths, swimming, hot tubs, and saunas.

Do not pick or scratch at your tattoo. Keep your healing tattoo out of direct sunlight. Once your tattoo is visibly healed you can use sunscreen over it.
